Karen Blixen is home of Rothschild giraffe and other wildlifes who have been saved from hash enviroment in order to recover.The center was founded in 1979 by  the late Jock Leslie Melville, a Kenyan citizen from British decendant and his American born wife.

After discovering the sad plight of  Roths’child giraffe and other animals who had lost their habitat in Western Kenya,with only 130 animals left in an 1800acres of land, the Blixens’ decided to open the center to save the sub-species.

Ever since the center has been a home for many endangered animals and also an education center,educating thousands of Kenyan school children about protecting the animals and their habitant.
